Rivington 10 Mile Trail Challenge

A scenic trail run for every type of runner

The Rivington 10 Mile Trail Challenge is a much-loved spring run set in the heart of Lancashire’s countryside. Whether you’re an experienced trail runner, a road runner trying something new, or simply looking for a friendly, well-organised event in a beautiful location, this race is for you.

The event has run successfully for several years and regularly sells out, thanks to its welcoming atmosphere, stunning route and great community feel.

The route

The course starts and finishes in Rivington Village and takes you through some of the area’s most popular and scenic trails, including:

• Woodland paths through White Coppice
• Trails around Wheelton Plantation
• Open countryside with classic West Pennine Moor views
• A flowing, runnable route that rewards steady pacing

This is a trail run that feels challenging but achievable, making it ideal for both seasoned runners and those stepping up in distance.

About Rivington

Rivington sits on the edge of the West Pennine Moors and is one of Lancashire’s most picturesque villages.

Runners love the area for:

• A peaceful village atmosphere away from busy roads

• Registration 08:45 - 09:45, Race Start time: 10:00am
• Distance: 10 miles (approx. 16 km) Cut off time 2H 30M
• Location: Rivington Village, Bolton
• Timing: Chip timing
• Medal: Bespoke finisher’s medal for all
• Prizes: First three male and female finishers plus age categories

Places are limited and previous editions have sold out, so early entry is recommended.
