Two great trail races. One brilliant race day.

Join us in Abbey Village for a friendly, well-organised spring race event offering something for everyone from experienced runners to juniors, beginners and families.

All races raise vital funds for Abbey Village Primary School PTA.

Roddlesworth Roller – 9km Trail Race

Start time: 11:00am
Minimum age: 16 years

A popular and scenic 9km trail race on good paths and quiet roads, taking in lakes and woodland around Abbey Village. Ideal as an early-season race, whether you’re building fitness or racing hard.

Perfect for: club runners, experienced trail runners, confident improvers and anyone looking for a well-run local race.

Daffodil Doddle – 2.2km Junior & Fun Run

Start time: 9:30am
Minimum age: 4 years

The 38th Annual Daffodil Doddle is a much-loved, fully off-road 2.2km trail race designed for juniors, beginners and fun runners. A safe, traffic-free course with excellent marshalling throughout.

Perfect for: U16s, first-timers, families and anyone wanting a shorter, friendly run.

These races regularly attract full fields — early entry is strongly recommended.

Event Timetable

Daffodil Doddle (2.2km)

• Registration: 8:30am – 9:15am
• Race start: 9:30am

Roddlesworth Roller (9km)

• Registration: 10:00am – 10:45am
• Race start: 11:00am

Race packs and numbers must be collected at the venue on the day. Please arrive in good time.

Entry Fees

Roddlesworth Roller – 9km

• Online entry: £12.50 + £1.60 admin fee
• On the day entry: £16.00 (subject to availability)

Daffodil Doddle – 2.2km

• Online entry: £5.50 + £1.00 admin fee
• On the day entry: £8.50

Online entries for both races close Wednesday 4 March 2026 at 11:45am.

The Daffodil Doddle has a strict limit of 200 entries and has been oversubscribed 26 times in its 38-year history. Enter early to avoid disappointment.

• Fully marshalled and clearly signed courses
• Chip timing for the Daffodil Doddle

• Free food and drink for all runners after finishing
• Extensive refreshments available to purchase before and after racing

Prizes

Roddlesworth Roller – 9km

• First three men and women overall
• Veteran categories (subject to sufficient pre-entries)
• Team prizes

Runners may be eligible to win more than one prize.

Daffodil Doddle – 2.2km

• 1st–3rd male and female
• 1st Abbey Village School boy and girl
• 1st team prize

Only one main prize per runner.

Course & Kit

Both races use trail paths.
For the Roddlesworth Roller, trainers with grip are strongly recommended.
Please dress appropriately for seasonal weather conditions.

For the Daffodil Doddle, under-10s are recommended to be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the course.

Safety

At least three First Aid teams will be on duty across the courses and at the start/finish areas.
Both races are fully marshalled.

Volunteers

Marshals and helpers are always welcome and play a vital role in making the event a success.
Free cake and brews provided.

Directions

Parking at the school is limited. Please park legally and considerately on:

• Bolton Road and nearby side roads
• Naja car park
• Dole Lane
• Twistmoor Lane

Do not park on junctions, crossings, or at the Hare and Hounds. Car sharing is encouraged.
